Supporting your Mental Health and wellbeing is our priority
University Mental Health Day is a reminder of the importance of taking care of ourselves and each other.
At the ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø, we prioritise the mental health and wellbeing of all students. We understand that life as a University student can be challenging, it's understandable you can feel overwhelmed at times, without all the additional stressors that navigating life can bring. It's important to listen to how you are feeling and support your own individual needs.
There are 2.9 million students in the UK, national research shows that at least 1 in 3 students has felt or feels lonely. Strong social relationships are vital to our mental health. Strong connections help support us through difficult times and make good times even brighter. There is a fundamental need to feel valued and feel close to others. Connection is what makes us human. We encourage all students to take time out of your academic schedule for times of rest, relaxation and interaction. The University runs many free opportunities to come together with your fellow students in a social environment. Listed further down the page are regular events taking place on campus and in the local area.
Supporting you today and all year round
As a global university, our community of students and staff come from all around the world. We are committed to creating an inclusive, compassionate, and respectful environment for our diverse community. In 2025, we achieved the University Mental Health Charter (UMHC) Award. Engaging with this process helped us to better understand our strengths and identify areas for improvement in how we support our community.
There are many options for Support available to you at the University and in the local area. You don't have to be in a crisis to reach out.
