Summary module description:

Class size restrictions apply to this module (where applicable): in the case of applicants exceeding numbers available, places will be offered on the basis of a students’ previous engagement and achievement in the programme.



This module will give students the opportunity to visit an institution overseas in order to gain experience and develop skills from reflection and participation in learning within an alternative educational environment.



Students will attend lectures, to be agreed with the partner organisation and to be the equivalent of 40 credits (20 ECTS).


Aims:

This module aims to provide students with the experience of studying educational modules in an overseas educational institution.


Assessable learning outcomes:

On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:




  • Demonstrate the ability to complete assignments at the host institution

  • Respond to the expectations of the host institution in terms of assessment completion and deadline meeting

  • Reflect upon the experience of studying overseas and the opportunities that it has provided

  • Reflect upon the challenges and how these have been overcome.

Additional outcomes:

This module and the related experience will develop the students’ confidence and capacity for problem-solving.Ìý


Outline content:

Students will take modules at an approved host institution with an equivalent to 40 credits.

Students will be required to meet the deadlines and assessment methods of the host institution as well as to complete a reflective journal throughout their stay.


Global context:

This module will inform students of the distinctions and similarities in teaching and learning processes and functions in overseas learning environments as well as giving students the opportunity to widen their cultural experiences and understanding.


Brief description of teaching and learning methods:

This module for a Term abroad will be delivered in an overseas institution. Teaching and assessment will follow a pattern set by the host university and approved by the ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø.
