Background
Before coming to the ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø, I held positions at the Universities of Portsmouth, Keele, and the West Indies, as well as the Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago. I have consolidated over a dozen years of experience teaching economics and related modules, across the undergraduate and postgraduate curricula. During my career, I have gained significant administrative experience in academic roles, such as Director of Postgraduate Research in Economics and Finance, PhD Programme Lead, and Research Seminar Organiser. Apart from my academic experience, I have practitioner experience in onsite auditing in the areas of anti-money laundering, credit risk assessment, and financial stability analysis.
I am regularly invited to deliver commencement addresses, keynotes, guest lectures, workshops, and research seminars at various institutions, including the Universities of Coventry, Genoa, Oxford, Masaryk, and the West Indies, as well as the Environment Agency of the UK government's Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, the National Institute of Economic and Social Research, and HR Wallingford (a sustainable hydro-engineering company in the UK). I am an experienced external PhD examiner, and I frequently serve as a peer-reviewer for many prestigious international journals in the fields of economics, finance, and the wider social sciences. I have served on the local organising committee of prestigious economics and social science conferences, including the , and I often participate in international conferences and workshops to present my latest research.
In addition, I engage in outreach activities such as undergraduate and postgraduate open days, applicant experience days, and run workshops to equip high school teachers to deliver new content requirements in sustainability within the A level business and economics curricula. I also introduced equality, diversity, and inclusion initiatives such as the PGR Alumni Success Sharing Stories, which especially showcases PhD graduates from ethnic minority backgrounds and women academics in economics and finance to current postgraduate research cohorts.
