Digital Media and Communication
Digital media and communication sit at the heart of every industry and play a vital role in shaping social, cultural, and public life. At the ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø, you will develop the critical insight, creative expertise, and digital skills needed to succeed as a communications professional in an increasingly AI-driven world.
We live in a rapidly transforming digital world where communication defines who we are and how we belong. Analysing language and communication is essential to our understanding of identity, community, and influence in contemporary society.
As AI is fundamentally reshaping how communication is produced, circulated and interpreted, future workplaces will demand professionals who can critically assess not just how AI tools work, but how they transform communication and relationships. Alongside AI, digital influencers increasingly shape everyday life, public debates and consumer culture making it vital to understand how they build authenticity and self-branding practices, and produce their microcelebrity identities.
Our BA Digital Media and Communication course brings together language and technology, creativity and critical thinking, theory and practice. You will develop practical expertise across digital platforms learning how to design and produce blogs, vlogs, podcasts, reels, social media campaigns, interactive maps, and digital exhibitions.
Alongside hands-on production skills, you will gain a rigorous understanding of how digital media intersects with pressing global issues, including politics, migration, climate change, gender, sexuality and social justice.
Studying at ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø also offers the opportunity to undertake a professional communication project or work placement, enabling you to apply your knowledge in real-world contexts and build valuable industry experience. This degree aims to make you a critically informed, digitally fluent and ethical communicator, with the skills to shape a rapidly evolving media landscape.
