Environmental Humanities Collaboration Fund
In response to growing collaborative activity across the Environmental Humanities, a new branch of funding is available. This funding stream is provided from the Associate PVCs Research for H&C and Environment theme, and from SMPCS.
Key Information about the Fund
What are we looking to fund? Small projects that support growing collaborations across the Environmental Humanities.
Eligible costs include travel, accommodation, and subsistence; catering; teaching buyout; campus jobs support; consumables; event costs. Project activity could include (not an exhaustive list):
-
Networking activities for participants, e.g. travel, catering, facilitation
-
Pilot work to test new ideas
-
Teaching buyout to enable collaborative bid writing
-
Activities to support developing relationships with stakeholders
How much is available? The fund totals £12,000. The maximum value of individual requests is £2,000
Who can apply? As a minimum, we would expect to see at least one researcher from an arts and humanities discipline, and one from an environmental/earth sciences discipline who are collaborating to answer a joint research question(s) or address a common problem(s). Since this Fund aims to promote collaboration between ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø researchers, we would expect the Project Lead and Co-Lead to be based at UoR. Projects could be any inter-/multi-/cross-disciplinary research collaboration between these disciplines. As the Environmental Humanities has a broad definition, we would not wish to constrain researchers’ interpretations of this.
Deadline for applications: 11th November 2024
Project window: Projects can start from 1st January 2025 and funds must be spent by 31st July 2025
How to apply: Please complete the application form . Funding is conditional upon:
- a set up meeting with your research development manager to discuss plans to develop the collaboration further; and
- a short report on progress and outcomes submitted to the Environment and H&C APVCs for Research by 1 September 2025 (one page A4).
Costs should be estimated using a cost calculator available from Research Services (contact d.e.davies@reading.ac.uk
