All TEEP (Test of English for Educational Purposes) papers and speaking performances are double marked by standardised examiners to ensure fair and reliable results. Grades are expressed on a 0–9 scale, including half bands. There are individual grades for reading, listening and writing, as well as an overall grade.

As a general guide, the band system works as follows:

You need to complete all parts of the test to receive a TEEP certificate.

We will send your TEEP certificate to you by email within a week of the test date. We can send a certificate directly to a specific admissions department, if relevant and requested.

Please note that in some cases results may be withheld for internal verification purposes. In this case, we will inform you by email. 

If you need a printed copy of your certificate, please complete the  form. Your certificate will be mailed to the address you provided, using first-class post (or standard international mail for overseas addresses). A £15 postage fee applies

If you have lost your TEEP certificate, you can request an extra copy by emailing teep@reading.ac.uk. 

Requesting a Review of Your TEEP Results

All TEEP results are double-marked and moderated. However, if you're not satisfied with your score, you may request a review within 4 weeks of receiving your results.

A £100 fee applies, which will be refunded if your score improves in any component.

You’ll receive the outcome within 10 working days. If you would like to request a formal review of your TEEP results, please complete the  form.

How many times can I take TEEP? 

You can take the TEEP up to a maximum of four times in one calendar year.

What is the minimum level of English needed for taking TEEP?

Students who are judged likely to score low grades, i.e. those at A1–A2 on the Common European Framework of Reference, are usually advised not to take the TEEP until they have further developed their English Language competence.

Who accepts TEEP as an entry qualification?

The ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø accepts the TEEP as a valid English Language qualification for entry to all our degree courses.

Several other UK universities accept this highly respected English Language test for entry to their degree courses. You should check that your chosen university accepts TEEP before you apply for the test.
