Career Development
A staff perspective
At the ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø, we believe that career development is not just for students—it’s a vital part of our commitment to supporting and empowering our staff. Whether you're in an academic or professional services role, the University offers a wide range of opportunities to help you grow, develop new skills, and progress in your career.
Through the People Development team, staff have access to a comprehensive portfolio of learning and development resources, including leadership programmes, mentoring schemes, coaching, and tailored workshops. These initiatives are designed to support both personal growth and strategic career planning, aligned with the University’s values and long-term goals. The Centre for Quality Support and Development (CQSD) supports the professional development of all staff involved in teaching and learning.
We also encourage staff to take ownership of their development through regular Performance and Development Reviews (PDRs), which provide a structured space to reflect on achievements, set goals, and identify future opportunities. In addition, the University supports secondments, job shadowing, and cross-departmental collaboration to broaden experience and foster innovation.
Career development at ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø is about more than progression—it’s about creating a fulfilling and sustainable working life, where every member of staff feels valued, supported, and equipped to thrive.
