Biography
Michelle’s professional background is in educational psychology, in which she holds a doctoral degree. Prior to joining the University, she held senior positions within a local authority. She was also involved in the doctoral training of educational psychologists at University College London.
Over two decades, Michelle has gained experience in psychology, student support, and strategic leadership. She has contributed to several journal articles and publications in the area of mental health in young people. Michelle is currently the Director of Student Wellbeing Services at the University, overseeing the University’s Counselling and Wellbeing Service, Disability Advisory Service, welfare provision, and residential support. This gives Michelle a comprehensive understanding of the diverse needs of the student community.
Michelle leads the University’s mental health strategy, ensuring that our approach is inclusive, evidence-based, and responsive to the evolving challenges students face. She is passionate about building a university culture that prioritises wellbeing, inclusion, and excellence. She is keen to support the University to evolve as a community where everyone can thrive.
