The launch event, which is open to the public, features:
- Networking with academics, industry professionals, AI enthusiasts and students.
- Presentations from speakers, including ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø Vice-Chancellor Robert Van de Noort.

The TVAI steering group includes Dr Dominic Lees, an expert in AI for the screen industries, along with colleagues from the ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø and representatives from companies including Nvidia and CV Library.
"Our mission is to empower businesses and individuals through education, networking and access to cutting-edge research," said Dr Mona Ashok, Associate Professor of Digital Transformation at Henley Business School and TVAI co-director.
"We're focused on promoting ethical AI practices while positioning the Thames Valley as a global leader in AI innovation.
“Our hope is that by connecting academic research with real-world applications, we can help local businesses of all sizes benefit from this transformative technology.”
Regional advantages
The Thames Valley region offers several advantages that make it ideal for AI development:
- Strategic location with direct links to London, Heathrow and major European markets, providing global connectivity without London's premium costs.
- World-class academic institutions including the ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø and the University of Oxford, which provide cutting-edge AI research and a pipeline of talented graduates.
- Thriving business ecosystem featuring global giants such as Microsoft, Nvidia, Oracle and Vodafone, alongside innovative start ups.
- Deep talent pool with over 56,000 tech professionals in Berkshire alone.
As AI continues to reshape industries worldwide, initiatives like the TVAI hub will play an important role in strengthening the UK’s technological capabilities and driving economic growth.
